Your Business and where it appears in the Directory
Your Business record and its Directory presence are connected, but they are not the same thing. One represents the Business in ETL; the other is how that Business is presented to people browsing the Directory.
Two connected parts of your East Texas Locals presence
When your Business is part of East Texas Locals, there are two ideas that are easy to mix up: your Business itself and where that Business appears in the Directory.
They work together, but they mean different things.
Your Business is the starting point
Your Business is the main identity that East Texas Locals uses for that company.
Information such as your Business Profile, the people authorized to manage the Business, and other ETL relationships connect back to that same Business.
This allows ETL to recognize the Business consistently even when different features or Directory placements are involved.
Directory presence is how customers discover the Business
Your Directory presence is the customer-facing side of that relationship.
It describes how the Business is placed and presented within the East Texas Locals Directory so people can discover it while browsing relevant areas of the platform.
A Business can exist in ETL without its Business identity being the same thing as a particular Directory placement.
Why the difference matters
Changing information about the Business does not automatically change its Directory placement.
In the same way, adding or changing Directory coverage does not create a different Business.
Categories, Coverage Areas, your Business information, and the features available to the Business all contribute to how its Directory presence works.
Keeping those concepts separate helps explain why something can be correct on your Business Profile while you still have a separate question about where the Business appears in the Directory.
